International Women’s Day 2022: Break the Bias

Women are an important part of the equation when it comes to organizational success and global innovation. Over the past two year’s of the COVID-19 pandemic, female doctors, scientists and healthcare workers have been crucial to some of the most exemplary responses to the virus. While women are pivotal to success and advancement, they are roughly paid $7,200 less per year than their male counterparts. At the current rate of progress, the United Nations predicts that gender equality among Heads of Government will take 130 years. These are only a couple of the many staggering statistics surrounding gender inequality. From challenge comes change, and this is something that we need to take action on right away.

International Women’s Day is a day to rise, empower and take action. This year’s IWD campaign theme is #BreaktheBias. What does this mean exactly? Breaking the Bias means that we make deliberate choices to call out gender bias and inequality each and every day. As part of the International Women’s Day campaign, people across the world have taken to social media to stand in solidarity with the message and the cause. If you’re interested, you might want to check out this video by the International Women’s Day organization. Everyone is encouraged to follow along with the movement by monitoring the #BreaktheBias and #IWD2022 hashtags. Wee Wild Ones & IWD

At Wee Wild Ones, we strive to nurture kind and compassionate hearts while fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We strongly believe that we need to be an active part of building a sustainable future for our little ones - one that maintains peace and equal rights for all. According to the UN Secretary-General’s recent report, women are still massively underrepresented in public life and decision-making efforts. When women lead, we see positive results, significant progress and incredible innovation. WWO is a great testament to this, due to our strong and ambitious female-led team. We are able to see the amazing things that women are capable of, day in and day out. While it’s been a difficult time for all of us over the course of these past two years, it’s important that we focus on the great things that the future has in store for us. International Women’s Day is a huge step toward creating a better and brighter future, and we are here to support the cause.

Tell us, are you breaking the bias? Our wee ones will be engaging in some meaningful conversations and engaging activities surrounding International Women’s Day and the importance of campaigns like #BreaktheBias.
